Important Meeting Announcement!


ACFW The Woodlands, Texas Chapter is proud to announce our April meeting! 

Join us Saturday, April 13, 2019 as we welcome authors, Anita Higman, Janice Thompson, and Kathleen Y’Barbo-Turner as they share the topic, Basic Fiction Components. This presentation will cover all six components in a quick overview, and then the floor will be open to questions. Your questions will not be limited to the topic, (within reason) and if you want to start thinking about the six components, they are: Plotting, Characters, Point Of View, Themes, Voice, and Setting. You do NOT want to miss hearing these ladies speak! The information you will receive may be what takes you to the next level in your writing.

About Anita Higman
CBA bestselling and award-winning author, Anita Higman, has forty-five books published and has been honored in the past as a Barnes & Noble “Author of the Month” for Houston.

Anita Higman has a BA degree in the combined fields of speech communication, psychology, and art from Southern Nazarene University, and she is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers. Anita has been featured on The Harvest Show, a Christian program with eight million regular viewers, Disney Radio and Houston’s TBN and PBS.

About Janice Thompson
Award-winning author Janice Thompson also writes under the pseudonym, Janice Hanna. She got her start in the industry writing screenplays and musical comedies for the stage. Janice has published over 100 books for the Christian market, crossing genre lines to write cozy mysteries, historicals, romances, nonfiction books, devotionals, children’s books and more. She particularly enjoys writing light-hearted, comedic tales because she enjoys making readers laugh.

Janice was named the 2008 Mentor of the year for ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers). She currently serves as president of her local ACFW chapter (Writers on the Storm), where she regularly teaches on the craft of writing.

Janice is passionate about her faith and does all she can to share the joy of the Lord with others, which is why she particularly enjoys writing. Her tagline, “Love, Laughter, and Happily Ever Afters!” sums up her take on life.

She lives in Spring, Texas, where she leads a rich life with her family, a host of writing friends, and two mischievous dachshunds. When she’s not busy writing or playing with her eight grandchildren, Janice can be found in the kitchen, baking specialty cakes and cookies for friends and loved ones. No matter what she’s cooking up—books, cakes, cookies or mischief—she does her best to keep the Lord at the center of it all.

About Kathleen Y'Barbo
Bestselling author Kathleen Y’Barbo is a multiple Carol Award and RITA nominee and author of more than ninety books with almost two million copies of her books in print in the US and abroad.
