White Elephant Book Exchange Christmas Party

From 2008, Writers On The Storm, The Woodlands, Texas Chapter of ACFW has held a very unique celebration. a celebration extolling the virtues of misfit books. 

We hold this peculiar book exchange during the Christmas season. All for giggles and grins, of course. The idea from my own home library collection of odd book titles started by mother, a true lover of books. Mama Rose loved reading and loved shopping for books almost as much as reading them. 

However, she often brought home some titles or subject matter we kids enjoyed poking fun at. Like "The Amazing Health and Household Uses of Hydrogen Peroxide," or "365 Ways To Cook An Egg." She is ninety years old now and I proudly display some of her titles on my shelves. Though I couldn't bring myself to read them, I couldn't quite bear to give them away either, so I did the only logical thing. I started collecting. 

Soon, I began to look for titles with the same spark of weird and wonderful fire. And I found them. Most of them are right under our noses. On discount tables, resale shops, lonely antique shops, estate sales and garages. And over the years, my collection has grown.
